Founded in 2013 we rescue and re-home animals in need and run regular spay / neuter and rabies vaccination campaigns in the Arusha region, Tanzania.

Our ‘dog handler’, walker, puppy-spoiler and food giver. He is just fantastic, unbelievably patient and even the most frightened dogs will trust him after one day. We count ourselves very lucky to have found such a wonderful person for Mbwa Wa Africa.
Sandra Kliegelhoefer
A nurse by profession, who worked for a German based animal rescue group is managing the current kennels and has trained 3 local staff as dog handlers. Her passion and care for dogs has saved many dogs life’s
Maiko
Cheerful Maiko is our animal playmate! He mostly likes to play with the youngsters, but also enjoys scratching the ears of our old dogs.
Mama Sande
Mama Sande is responsible for the kennels, meaning not only cleanness, but so much more like fresh water everyday, clean dog beds and blankets, organizing the store..
Elisa
Elisa joined us end of 2019 as our 3rd dog handler. He is enjoying the walks in the forest as much as our dogs do.
Jens Fissenebert
Jens Fissenebert, who did his apprentice ship as industrial businessman and worked in the logistics of an international company in Germany. Next to being the best bottle feeder he is responsible for the project coordination and back office work of Mbwa Wa Africa.
Philbert
Philberti has been with us for many years. He takes care of our own dogs which are beautiful but a bit complicated. This pack are all rescue dogs which have been too traumatised by their past experiences to be successfully integrated into the rescue or re-homed.
Philberti is the joker in the team and will willingly take on any other role if required.

Willam, our night watchman, who is watching over the peaceful sleep of everybody.
